AWARE Colorado advisory committee
Over 30 people have agreed to be on our advisory committee, which met for the first time in May. At that meeting, discussion centered around such topics as:
Groups AWARE should be communicating with
Topics AWARE should cover and use in presentations
How to frame our message
Criteria for deciding which communities AWARE should work with
Communities AWARE might work with
Information AWARE should try to get to decision makers
Questions to ask at Nonpoint Education for Municipal Officials (NEMO) U
Speaking of NEMO U
AWARE project manager Cynthia Peterson and Loretta Lohman, nonpoint source information and education coordinator for Colorado State University Cooperative Extension, went back to college, so to speak. They attended a four-day conference last month at NEMO U in Connecticut.
"We met with other programs from around the United States that are doing the same kind of land use decision maker education," Peterson says. The two women learned how other states are organizing similar programs, and how theyre being funded. They also talked about the program with representatives from state and federal agencies.
"I came back excited and encouraged about AWARE Colorado," Peterson says.
And, introducing our new logo
After much deliberation (art is so subjective), we settled on the logo that appears on this page.
