Survey results are in
We went right to the source land use officials around the state to see how we can best communicate information about:
• Water quality impacts of land use
• Strategies to prevent negative impacts to water resources
• Resources available to communities and decision makers
We heard from 23 officials who responded to our questionnaire earlier this year. They are from large and small communities throughout Colorado, representing elected and appointed officials in both incorporated and unincorporated areas. They told us about their familiarity with key terms and concepts; over 90 percent said that our plan (to give presentations to communities about the relationship between water quality and land uses) is right on track; most said they’d like to get information online; and many want hard copies, especially in the form of fact sheets and case studies.
Which leads us to …
The AWARE team is hard at work collecting information and creating a database of useful topics and resources. The information will be assembled in a "toolkit," which will be distributed to land use officials and posted on the AWARE Web site.
